The Sounds is a free community newspaper for and about the residents of nine Chicago neighborhoods.

It was launched in 1977 as a not-for-profit corporation by ten families in the neighborhood as a successor to the Sauganash Echoes established in 1967.

Our Mission
To be of service to the general area, its people and organizations; to help maintain and further a spirit of community pride and neighborhood friendship and stability; to introduce newcomers and develop better relations between neighbors, old and new.
